William Everett is the Vice President of the Men’s Association. Born Jake LaCosta in San Diego, California, he has resided in Stepford for the past 7 years to avoid criminal charges for assault of a police officer and counter-protestors at the Unite the Right Rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, and has since dedicated himself to maintaining a “traditional” lifestyle. He graduated from UCLA in 2004 with a double major in medicine and psychology, which has allowed him to mould Rachel Martinez, a lesbian punk musician, into Rosie Everett, his devoted and subservient ideal housewife.
After Zach Taylor’s interview with Rosie goes wrong, William quickly reintroduces himself to the journalist and invites him to sit in on a Men’s Association meeting for his article, though he quickly learns of Zach’s true motives for being in Stepford and conspires with Dale Coba Jr. and his brother Darren, the Chief of Stepford PD, to “disappear” Zach by any means necessary. They eventually plan to detransition Zach by turning him into a Stepford Wife, first offering one to Arthur Hendry, who steadfastly refuses, then to Darren, who readily accepts. William is later killed by Rachel Martinez when she breaks her Stepford Wife reconditioning.
William, at first, appears affable yet stoic and somewhat creepy, but is actually a deeply sadistic and bigoted man with disturbing ideas about women’s roles in society. He clearly has an uncomfortable preoccupation with motherhood, specifically pregnancy and childbirth, and this informs his hostility towards Zach whilst interrogating him. Prior to this, he believes Zach specifically poses a threat to his “marriage” to “Rosie Everett”.
