THINGS TO REMEMBER

• Welcome to Stepford takes place in early October 2024, a few months after I initially wrote the script
• The frame of reference I used for the extended timeline’s starting point was the Stepford Wives movie, released in 1975 and presumably taking place the same year
• The events detailed in old newspaper articles in the Stepford Wives book, published in 1972 and presumably taking place the same year, were also used as a frame of reference, although within the film timeline for the sake of consistency
• COVID-19 did still happen lol
• The Stepford Men’s Association of the present day primarily no longer uses animatronic replicas, instead preferring to either kidnap women or lure them to Stepford under false pretences, psychologically recondition them, strip away their identities and force them into sham marriages. However they do still manage to recruit new citizens to the group and encourage them to have their wives brainwashed
