Poster design mockups

In the interest of full disclosure, these suck shit lmao. I put these both together in PicsArt on my phone, and for the second one I used a free trial of I think it was the Pro version? I was inspired by some classic Frankfurt-Gips-Balkind (now known as InSync Plus) poster designs such as the ones for Alien and Rosemary’s Baby, that one End of Evangelion poster with everyone floating in LCL and some word salad slapped on top, and of course the promo campaign for Longlegs (shoutout to NEON the absolute GOATs when it comes to movie promo campaigns). For the most part I was going for a vintage vibe that feels ever so slightly off, so I slapped a bunch of filters and weirdcore stickers on one of the default PicsArt wallpapers, then did the same with an image of the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion in Connecticut that serves as the location of the Men’s Association HQ, not just in the original film but in the 2004 remake as well. The weirdcore stickers are mostly just to communicate the internal mo...

THE GLORY OF LOVE WILL SEE YOU THROUGH - [SPOILER] character study

My name is Rosie Everett. I am the faithful and devoted wife of William Everett. I live at 1138 Fairview Lane in Stepford, Connecticut. I cook and I clean, and I have never been happier. [TRIGGER/CONTENT WARNING: kidnapping, themes of domestic & sexual abuse, (not too graphic) childbirth written inaccurately for the sake of drama sorry about that, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, mediocre as hell writing] Once again, more bullshit written by me in an attempt to flesh out the characters outside the script :) Like I say I do have some previous experience performing live with a band – I played bass in a shitty edgelord deathrock band for about seven months until I was kicked out, and I even played four live gigs with them. Unfortunately, two of those gigs were in Milton Keynes lmao. Anyway, I drew on that experience while developing the character of Rachel Martinez and fleshing out her backstory, and basically I wanted to highlight how completely different she is to the persona she ...

Notes I made while reading the book and rewatching the film

stepford wives book takes place in 1972, film takes place in 1975, just going by the release dates of both. i’m using the 1975 timeline as a starting point for the sake of consistency name of men’s association HQ is Terhune house betty Friedan spoke at the stepford women’s club around 6 or 7 years before the book’s events take place in the book mary migliardi mentions the men’s association is 6 or 7 years old, meaning that in the movie’s timeline it would have been founded in 1968-1969 women’s club disbanded around the time Dale Coba moved to stepford with his wife and 2 kids (Dale jr, 4, and Darren, 2) chapters 1-2 take place from September to january, final chapter sounds like late February? but in the film the story begins in either April or May  pete/amy eberhart’s 8th birthday happens in the book. because there’s virtually no information online about Ronny Sullivan (the kid who played Amy eberhart) I have no idea if Amy is supposed to be older or younger than Ki...

Benny Harvey RIP, Miss Ya Big Man, Gone But Not Forgotten

“You know, hope is the best weapon we have against uncertainty and despair.” —————— Okay the title I can explain. I was going to call this Manhattan Skyline or some shit, and that got me thinking of the A-ha song of the same name, THEN the Limmy’s Show sketch based around that song and the Benny Harvey RIP bit afterward (btw my headcanon is that the metalhead in the A-ha shirt IS Benny Harvey) and that’s where the title comes from. Anyway this little vignette takes place some time  after Rachel Martinez’s kidnapping and follows two of her bandmates Hannah Lopez and Melanie Huang as they deal with the fallout from her disappearance, trying to hang onto hope despite everything. It sucks but what can ya do? Benny Harvey RIP, Miss Ya Big Man, Gone But Not Forgotten After ascending several flights of stairs until she was out of breath, Mel found Hannah on the roof of her apartment building, perched on the edge, staring out at the skyline with her arms wrapped around her slender frame, ...
