Cece Samira Thomas is another of Zach’s close friends, who has gone missing in Stepford by the start of the film. She is ultimately the most important character in the story, as she is the first character to appear on screen, her disappearance is the focal point of the plot, and she rescues Zach from the Men’s Association near the end of the film.
Cece is a headstrong and resilient young woman, willing to take action to protect the people she loves and to help those in need. She and Zach first became friends off campus while attending Columbia University, where Cece was an art student and Zach was getting his journalism degree; Cece was renting an apartment, and Zach briefly roomed with her after graduating until he found his own place. We learn quickly, however, that Cece and Zach had an argument shortly before she vanished, which informs Zach’s decision to visit Stepford in an effort to make amends.
In Stepford, she is being groomed by the Men’s Association into becoming the wife of Jim Winterborough, a 45-year-old neuroscientist who is instrumental in the process of creating the so-called Stepford Wives, but eventually gets revenge on him and other high-ranking members via use of his treasured autographed baseball bat. She also fatally shoots Darren Coba, the Chief of the Stepford Police Department and brother of Dale Coba Jr., then causes the death by immolation of the latter.
Cece is a skilled artist, specialising in both conventional and non-conventional forms of art. After the events of the film, she creates a series of paintings and sculptures exploring her time in Stepford and how it affected her.
